Egeskov
We had arranged a week of summer holiday with my sister Clare and her boyfriend Guntraum who live in Berlin. I dropped Helen off with all the gear on a grass strip in the middle of a wheat field accross the road from a star Danish attraction – Egeskov Slott (castle) and flew in the lightest Jabiru I've flown yet down to German to greet the family. Having has a comfortable overnight at the small airfield at Flensberg, C & G were in fine form so we loaded their gear and I showed them how to strap in. Althogh Clare was nervous at first during climb out, after a few more flights later in the week and a better understanding of the way a plane can glide easily to a safe engine off landing, she was much more comfortable.

Guntraum was great in the plane and had a great time looking out, taking photos and encouraging me to climb to say hello to small puffy clouds. The flight between Flensberg north east to the large Danish isnland of Funen where the castle is was ideal for them, being only 40 mins and with excellent yachts, towns and even a sea plane landing far below us to view. I was really proud that Clare was willing to 'feel the fear and do it anyway' as my Aunt Caroline says. By the time we were in slow orbit 500' over the castle and gardens, I think Clare was pleased herself! We spent the rest of the afternoon running around the castle garden with our season tickets. People seem to spend several days camping or motorhoming here and there was a disproportionate number of Italians, a phenominum that we have noticed across Denmark since.
